Split - Zagreb [22-06-08]

I packed up in the morning, checked out of the guesthouse and walked to the nearby bakery to get my breakfast. I then got on this private coach to Split airport and had my breakfast on board. I was surprised to know that there was free internet service at the airport. So i waited for my flight at Gate 2. THe plane took off and landed on Pula before taking off again to land in Zagreb.

It was scary when i was at the conveyor belt waiting for my luggage to arrive. The plane landed at 1405 and i still could not see my luggage at 1500. It will be totally disastrous if my lugge was misplaced somewhere in Pula or at the transfer corner. The rest who were waiting were also in distress. The belt finally moved and i heaved a sigh of relief. But as for some of the passengers, they seemed infuriated by the event and went to the information counter to vent their frustrations and lodged their complaints.

I took the airport shuttle to the city centre. I was supposed to take tram#8, 4 stops to reach my hostel. I tried to find a kiosk to buy the tram tickets but all the kiosks were closed. Not knowing what to do, i took the tram without buying tickets.

Split in the morning
Buzz backpacker hostel was really hard to find. I almost missed it on this street. I checked in and realised the receptionist was a Japanese guy. He was impressed at the number of pages in my Singapore passport (other passport only have a few pages...ours are really thick). So i changed up and decided to explore the area at the same time to look for lunch.
It was a dead town. Every shops were closed and i had no choice but to eat McDonalds. 30 kunas for a value meal was alright. But seriously, i didn't see lots of people at all.
The main square.... dead
The popular vernicular.... dead
only a couple in sight
From a hill... so quiet

I found this lane which plays great music and with tree shades great for a chill-out.

You have to find this building when you're in Zagreb...one of the popular landmarks

an altar... orthodox

nobody
old old cathedral

Botanic Garden...it was closed when i was there

A local park

Zagreb's a nice city but i really have no mood to explore. It pales in comparison with Split and Dubrovnik. Frankly speaking, if ever you're planning to go to Croatia, it's definitely OKAY to give this place a miss. I mean it.
